FR01-B0107B-HM
Gray Fire Retardant Gel Coat
Technical Data Sheet
Application: Intumescent fire retardant gel coats have poor water resistance and must not be used for applications where
continuous exposure to water is required. FR01-B0107B-HM is formulated for spraying as supplied. It is strongly
recommended that the material be mixed before each use due to a rapid viscosity build-up. Optimum application temperature
is 65 F – 90 F (18 C – 32 C). Apply in several thin, overlapping passes rather than a single heavier coat; this will help to avoid
porosity, solvent entrapment, and sagging. The recommended wet film thickness is 18 – 22 mils (0.45 – 0.56 mm) wet.
Storage and Handling: FR01-B0107B-HM should be stored in closed, opaque containers at temperatures above 40 F (4 C)
but not exceeding 77 F (25 C). Do not keep gel coats near catalyst storage areas. To avoid decomposition keep away from

test data for a single lab batch representative of the product line (P-8911)
Application: B-853DV-LMM is formulated for spraying as supplied. It is strongly recommended that the material be mixed
before use. Optimum application temperature is 65 F – 90 F (18 C – 32 C). Two coats of 8 to 10 mils each are
recommended to build to a film thickness of 15 – 20 mils (0.38 – 0.51 mm). This two-step process is necessary to avoid
porosity, solvent entrapment and sagging. Brushing is not recommended.
Vinyl ester barrier coats are not intended to be used as a cosmetic finish due to rapid polymer degradation under the UV
light. Failure to follow the recommendation may result in damage to the gel coat surface from oxidation and chalking.
Storage and Handling: B-853DV-LMM should be stored in closed, opaque containers at temperatures above 40 F (4 C)
but not exceeding 77 F (25 C). Do not keep gel coat near catalyst storage areas. To avoid decomposition, keep away from
direct sunlight and excess heat. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet for further details on safety and storage.

Application: The color of each component of a matrix resin, filler, colorant as well as curing conditions will affect the
color of the finished article. Colorant suitability for specific application must be tested prior to use. It is strongly
recommended that the material be mixed before use. Colorant must be added and mixed in an unsaturated polyester
resin before any Free Radical Initiator (peroxide) is added. More than 10 percent by weight of the colorant may greatly
affect the viscosity and cure properties of the product in which the colorant is incorporated.
Storage and Handling: B-816B-CZZ should be stored in closed, opaque containers at temperatures above 40 F (4 C)
but not exceeding 77 F (25 C). To avoid decomposition, keep away from direct sunlight and excess heat. Refer to the

G245MC POLYESTER GEL COAT
PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES
A. All AOC thixotropic polyester gel
coats should be mixed well prior to
use.
B. MEKP levels should be kept
between 1.0% and 2.5%
C. Gel coats should not be applied
below 64 F/18 C.
D. G245MC may require higher
ratio pressures to spray. 11:1
pumps may not be able to handle
G245MC in some cases.
ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFIED
The Quality Management Systems
at every AOC manufacturing facility
have been certified as meeting ISO
9001:2008 standards. This certifi-
cation recognizes that each AOC
facility has an internationally ac-
cepted model in place for manag-
ing and assuring quality. We follow
the practices set forth in this mod-
el to add value to the resins we
make for our customers.
FOOTNOTES
(1) The gel times shown are typical but may
be affected by catalyst, promoter, inhibitor
concentration, resin, mold, and shop temper-
ature. Variations in gelling characteristics can
be expected between different lots of cata-
lysts and at extremely high humidities. Pig-
ment and/or filler can retard or accelerate
gelation. It is recommended that the fabrica-
tor check the gelling characteristics of a small
quantity of resin under actual operating con-
ditions prior to use.
(2) Based on tests at 77 F/25 C and 50%
relative humidity. All tests performed on unre-
inforced castings. Thixotropic components
are excluded from casting samples. Castings
are post cured.
