This document is provided to ensure safe handling and use instructions for Vectorply aramid and hybrid glass, carbon and aramid products.
Continuous aramid, glass and carbon fibers are defined as “articles” under REACH and are not regulated by either OSHA Hazard Communication
Standard , 29 CFR 1910.1200 or Canada Hazardous Products Regulation SOR/2015-17 (WHMIS 2015). An SDS is not required for manufacturing
articles.
SECTION 5: FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
Suitable Extinguishing Media:Dry chemical, foam, carbon dioxide (CO2), water fog.
Unsuitable Extinguishing Media:Full water jet.

SECTION 11: TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Summary: There are no known health effects from the long term use or contact with carbon or aramid fibers.
There are no known health effects from the long term use or contact with nonrespirable continuous
filament glass fibers. As manufactured, the glass fibers in this product are nonrespirable.
Continuous filament glass fibers that are chopped, crushed, or severely mechanically processed
during manufacturing or use may contain a very small amount of respirable particulate, some of which
may be glass shards.The measured airborne concentration of these respirable fibers in areas where
severe processing of fiberglass occurred has been shown to be extreemly low nad well below the TLV.
Based on animal study, repeated or prolonged exposure to respirable glass fibers may cause fibrosis,
lung cancer, and mesolthelioma.

Description of first aid measures
Inhalation With any sign of respiratory distress, affected persons should be taken into fresh air and made
to rest while medical attention is sought.
Ingestion If fiber from the product is ingested, immediately rinse mouth repeatedly with water. If
swallowing has occurred, do not induce vomiting. If requested, give affected person sips of
water. Seek medical attention.
Skin Contact In case of contact with the product or the cured product dust or particulates, immediately wash
skin with mild soap and water. Use a washcloth to help remove fibers. To avoid further
irritation, do not scratch irritated areas. Rubbing or scratching may force the fibers into the
skin. Get medical attention immediately if the irritation persists.
Eye contact contamination by fiber should be removed by flushing with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek
medical attention if irritation persists.

General information Filaments are mechanical irritants and may induce temporary mouth, nose and throat
irritation. Skin or eye contact may cause itching and temporary irritation. Ingestion may cause
temporary mechanical irritation of the digestive tract. Pre-existing conditions such as

generated from machining/grinding of the cured product.

Continuous filament Carbon fiber is a carbon product which is given a specific shape (filament) and dimension
(filament diameter). A surface treatment (sizing) is applied to the filament. The sizing is a mixture of chemicals,
i.e. film former, coupling agent and polymeric resin. The sizing content is usually less than or equal to 2%. Non
crimp fabrics made with Carbon fibers are stitched with synthetic yarns.
3. Hazards Identifications
This product including its components is not considered to be hazardous in the sense of the Directive 67/548/EEC
and Directive 1999/45/EC. Under normal industrial conditions, product is not flammable and has stability.
3.1.Skin: Directly contact with skin may cause irritation, itching, rash, swelling. Wear protective clothes.
3.2.Eye: May cause eye irritation, rash, pain. These symptoms may continue after stop working. This condition
may be temporary but may cause permanent influence as cornea. Wear safety glasses.
3.3.Respiratory: May cause respiratory problems. This may damage throat and lungs and cause cough. Wear
respiratory mask.
3.4.Hazards that do not directly lead to a classification: Carbon fiber is an electricity conducting material, it may
break up into fine particles. Finely dispersed carbon fiber may irritate skin, eyes and mucous membranes. Carbon
fiber dust may cause electrical short-circuits when contacted to electrical devices.

4. First Aid Measures
4.1. Inhalation: May cause respiratory problem. Move to fresh air. If symptoms persist, call physician.
4.2. Skin Contact: If skin irritation does occur, remove contaminated clothing and wash off plenty of water min.
15 minutes without rubbing. Use a mild soap if possible. If symptoms persist, call physician.
4.3. Eye Contact: In case of dust, thoroughly rinse eyes with clean water for at least 15 minutes. Arrange for
transport to the nearest medical facility for examination and treatment by a physician as soon as possible.
Remove contact lenses if any before continuing to rinse. Do not let the victim rub his eyes.
4.4. Ingestion: Gently wipe or rinse the inside of the mouth with water. Give water to the victim if conscious, but
do not make him vomit. In case of vomiting, do not let the victim swallow the vomit. Do not give anything to
ingest to unconscious or convulsing victim.
4.5. Additional information: Mild hydrocortisone skin cream is helpful for skin irritation.
5. Fire Fighting Measures
5.1. Suitable Extinguishing Media: Use foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide or water-mist.
5.2. Special Protective Clothing: In case of big fires self-contained breathing apparatus must be used ad full
protective clothing must be worn.
5.3. Additional information: Only the packaging film, polyester yarn and carbon sizing material are likely burn.
Combustion gases are basically carbon dioxide and water vapor. There may be small quantities of carbon
monoxide and other substances which make it necessary to use protective devices in the event of a major fire.
Emission of toxic gases: nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide. When the product is burnt, fine carbon fiber particles
may be produced. They may cause electrical short-circuits when contacted to electrical devices.
6. Accidental Release Measures
6.1. Personal Precautions: Provide eyewash stations. Under normal industrial conditions, this product is not
flammable and has stability. (See chapter 8.) Precautions when handling dispersed substances: Because fine
particles may be dispersed, it is advised to wear a dust mark with P3 type filter.
6.2. Environmental Precautions: No special environmental precautions required.
6.3. Spill Cleanup Methods: Fiber dusts can cause to short circuit. Spreading has to eliminate.
7. Handling & Storage
7.1. Usage Precautions:
*Material to be handled with care: Do not cut the carbon fiber unnecessarily. Electricity conducting material, do
not allow contact with electric current sources.
*Avoid the dispersion of loose fibers: Handle the fiber in well ventilated premises (the ventilation devices should
have a filter to avoid discharging loose fibere into open air) where there are no electrical appliances or said
appliances are protected in sealed or pressurised cases
*Insulating varnish may be applied to electronic boards and electrical terminals.

*Advise for use and incompatibility with other materials: Avoid friction which may create loose and flying debris
7.2. Storage Precautions: Storage conditions do not have an influence on the product properties, but it is advised
to store the product in a clean and dry place, away from dust, in its original packaging. Packing material must be
prevented to damage during transporting and carrying.
7.3. Special Usage: The person contacted with carbon has to isolate or clean his hands before working with
electronic device. Vacuum clean, sweep or shovel carefully in order to prevent dust suspension.

If dust is created and ventilation is inadequate, it is advised to wear a dust mask, eye protection, gloves and clean
and dry work attire.

13. Disposal Considerations
This product can be considered as immobile solid waste and disposed as solid waste. Carbon fiber must be
destroyed depending on local regulations. EWC (European Waste Catalogue) chapter 160306 belongs to Carbon
fiber materials.
If Carbon fiber involves any resin to form a composite structure (cured or half cured), disposing of this material
must do considering disposal consideration of the resin.
