mended if a secondary bond is applied
to a laminate that was made with a
resin containing wax.
STORAGE STABILITY
This product is stable for three months
from the date of manufacture when
stored in the original containers, away
from direct sunlight or other UV light
sources and at or below 77 F/25 C.
Storage stability of two months or less
should be anticipated if the storage
temperature exceeds 86 F/30 C.

ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFIED
The Quality Management Systems at
every AOC manufacturing facility have
been certified as meeting ISO
9001:2008 standards. This certifica-
tion recognizes that each AOC facility
has an internationally accepted model
in place for managing and assuring
quality. We follow the practices set
forth in this model to add value to the
resins we make for our customers.
FOOTNOTES
(1.) Based on tests at 77 F/25 C and 50% relative
humidity. All tests performed on unreinforced
cured resin castings. Thixotropic components, if
applicable are excluded from casting samples.
Castings were post cured.
(2.) The gel times shown are typical but may be
affected by catalyst, promoter, inhibitor concentra-
tion, resin, mold, and shop temperature. Variations
in gelling characteristics can be expected between
different lots of catalysts and at extremely high
humidities. Pigment and/or filler can retard or
accelerate gelation. It is recommended that the
fabricator check the gelling characteristics of a
small quantity of resin under actual operating
conditions prior to use.

DESCRIPTION
Designed specifically for use on expanded polystyrene
foam. This
special polyester resin does not chemically attack EPS foam, but bonds,
and creates a barrier. Once cured, Styrosafe protects EPS foam from
chemical attack from general purpose unsaturated polyester resins or
styrene-containing coatings allowing low cost EPS foam to be
substituted for expensive urethane tooling board or MDF.

Use Instructions
Although StyroSafe Laminating Resin #30P-106A is compatible with low density polystyrene
foam, there are some precautions to follow when using the product:
Do not leave a puddle of resin on the foam after laminating onto the surface as some
chemical attack can occur due to excess exotherm development.
After the first, or skin coat, laminate has been applied, wait until it exotherms and
cools before following with the next laminates. Too much exothermic heat will melt the foam.
(1) Styrosafe needs to be catalyzed using an MEKP catalyst. We have used both Cadox L50 and
Norox 925 successfully in our testing and trials. Catalyze at 1.5% by weight.
(2) Apply at least two laminates made with StyroSafe resin before switching to a GP resin system
as the two laminates will insure that there will be no chemical attack of the foam.
NOTE: based on industry information about Expanded Polystyrene Foam we do not
recommend that the foam be subject to vacuum or temperatures above 160 F.
XPS FOAM OPTION: We are frequently asked whether StyroSafe can be used in conjunction
with XPS foam. StyroSafe was designed for best results with the cell structure of EPS foam – the
functionality and cell structure of XPS foam is functionally different. If you are working with
XPS foam, we advocate testing to your process to determine compatibility.

DESCRIPTION
MoldTru LPT-68000 is a pre-promoted thixotropic
vinyl ester low profile tooling resin. The high perfor-
mance mechanical properties of the vinyl ester res-
in provides a laminate of quality and integrity with
superior surface quality.
APPLICATION
The MoldTru LPT-68000 was developed primarily to
build molds using the conventional open mold pro-
cess (spray up or hand lay up) at a room tempera-
ture. In some cases a vacuum molding process can
be used to obtain high glass content using tech-
nical fabrics. The low viscosity of this product pro-
vides good wet out of the laminate and air removal.
BENEFITS
MoldTru LPT-68000 has several advantages when
considering the performance of the polymer and
the reaction of the low profile during the mold con-
struction. Some of the advantages are:
Dramatic build time reduction
Up to five layers can be laminated at once.
Lower labor cost
Reduce the timing between layers
No surface distortion
The low shrinkage of the product increases
the dimensional stability of the laminate.
Master molds replication
The low exotherm together with a high HDT
provide a correct cure and stability of the
laminate. The low shrinkage improves the
surface quality.
Viscosity
The low viscosity helps the infusion flow
faster and wets the high glass content
laminate complete.
No print through
Low shrinkage and unique low profile
system helps to prevent glass print.

in weight.
B. Maintaining shop temperatures
between 65 F/18 C and 90 F/32
C and humidity between 40% and
90% will help the fabricator make a
high quality part. Consistent shop
conditions contribute to consistent
gel times.
SAFETY
See the appropriate Safety Data Sheet
for guidelines.
ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFIED
The Quality Management Systems at
every AOC manufacturing facility have
been certified as meeting ISO
9001:2008 standards. This certifica-
tion recognizes that each AOC facility
has an internationally accepted mod-
el in place for managing and assuring
quality. We follow the practices set
forth in this model to add value to the
resins we make for our customers.
FOOTNOTES
(1.) Based on tests at 23 C and 50% relative
humidity. All tests performed on unreinforced
cured resin castings. 1/4″ castings were pre-
pared using 2.8% MEKP-9, post cured for 5 hours
at 212 F/100 C using AOC test method X-12Ab.
(2.) The gel times shown are typical but may be
affected by catalyst, promoter and inhibitor con-
centrations and resin, mold and shop tempera-
ture. Variations in gelling characteristics can be
expected between different lots of catalysts and
at extremely high humidities. Pigment and fillers
can retard or accelerate gelation. It is recom-
mended that the fabricator check the gelling
characteristics of a small quantity of resin under
actual operating conditions prior to use.

STORAGE STABILITY
This product is stable for three
months from the date of manufac-
ture when stored in the original con-
tainers, away from direct sunlight or
other UV light sources and at or be-
low 20 C (70 F). After extended
storage, some drift may occur in the

or polypropylene (PP), will accelerate
gel formation and result in a signifi-
cantly reduced storage stability.
Storage of this resin outdoors in
translucent plastic totes may reduce
the storage stability to only a few
weeks. AOC cannot assume responsi-
bility for gel formation under these
storage conditions.

FIREPEL
K140 POLYESTER FIRE RETARDANT RESIN
APPLICATION GUIDELINES
A. Some separation of the K140
resin is normal upon standing. Mix
the resin thoroughly in the original
container at least 15 minutes prior
to use. Firepel K140 is provided in
partially filled open top containers
with enough space for easy mixing
with the promoters.
B. Use mixing equipment with suffi-
cient horsepower based on the size
of the container to ensure adequate
mixing. Adequate mixing is evident
when the resin is homogenous and
no undissolved material is present
on the bottom of the container.
C. To assure adequate bonding to
gel coats, fabricators should pre-wet
the gel coat surface with a thin pass
of catalyzed resin prior to lamina-
tion.

DESCRIPTION
Firepel K133 series resins are specifical-
ly designed to be blended with alumina
trihydrate (ATH) to provide fire retardant
properties.
APPLICATION
Firepel K133-ATT-00 is thixotropic to keep
the ATH in suspension longer. ATH is
needed to provide fire retardant proper-
ties.
Flammability of composite parts is de-
pendent on the geometry of the part, de-
gree of cure, reinforcement content, types
of reinforcement, etc. It is the end user’s
responsibility to ensure that finished
parts meet the required specifications.
Published flammability properties should
be used for comparison purposes only.

Filler Guidelines for 150-160 phr ATH Resin Mixes
The particle size of the ATH filler will have a dramatic affect on the viscosity of the filled system. It has been
determined that a 50:50 blend of two different particle size grades of ATH will provide the optimum balance of
processing and reduce the tendency for the filler to settle. Alternate grades at similar mean particle size may
be considered. Some grades of ATH may affect the reactivity of the filled resin mixture, so it is advised to char-
acterize the specific grade of ATH before committing to production.

FIREPEL
K133 SERIES POLYESTER RESIN
PERFORMANCE GUID ELINES
A. Keep full strength catalyst levels
between 1.0% - 2.0% of the total resin
weight.
B. Maintain shop temperatures be-
tween 65 F/18 C and 90 F/32 C
and humidity between 40% and 90%.
Consistent shop conditions contribute
to consistent gel time and will help the
fabricator make a high quality part.
STORAGE STABILITY
This product is stable for three months
from the date of manufacture when
stored in the original containers, away
from direct sunlight or other UV light
sources and at or below 77 F/25 C.
After extended storage, some drift may
occur in the product viscosity and gel
time.
SAFETY
A. See appropriate Material Safety Da-
ta Sheet for guidelines.
B. Chemical resistance studies have
indicated the dicyclopentadiene resins
such as the Firepel K133 Series res-
ins have inferior resistance to certain
hydrophobic liquids, such as hydrocar-
bons. Fuel storage tanks should not be
produced with the Firepel K133 Series
resins. If your manufacturing needs
require a more corrosion resistant res-
in, please contact your AOC representa-
tive for information or technical assis-
tance on AOC's line of isophthalic or
vinyl ester resins.
APPLICATION GUIDELINES
A. Due to the curing characteristics of
the Firepel K133 series resin, it is de-
sirable to complete all secondary
bonding as soon as possible. Exposure
of the laminate to sunlight will result in
severe secondary bonding problems.
After 24 hours of cure, it may become
necessary to abrade the laminate to
ensure good secondary bonding, espe-
cially if the surface of the laminate has
been allowed to become resin rich.
Low fiberglass content and resin pud-
dling should be avoided with this prod-
uct.
B. To assure adequate bonding to gel
coats, fabricators should pre-wet the
gel coat surface with a thin pass of
catalyzed resin prior to lamination.
ISO 9001:2008 CERTIFIED
The Quality Management Systems at
every AOC manufacturing facility have
been certified as meeting ISO
9001:2008 standards. This certifica-
tion recognizes that each AOC facility
has an internationally accepted model
in place for managing and assuring
quality. We follow the practices set
forth in this model to add value to the
resins we make for our customers.
FOOTNOTES
(1.) Based on tests of Firepel K133-AAA-00 resin at 77
F/25 C and 50% relative humidity. Thixotropic compo-
nents, if applicable, are excluded. Castings were pre-
pared using 1.0% BPO and post cured 1 hour at 93 C,
1 hour at 116 C and 2 hours at 138 C.
(2) The gel times shown are typical but may be affected
by catalyst, promoter, inhibitor concentration, resin,
mold, and shop temperature. Variations in gelling char-
acteristics can be expected between different lots of
catalysts and at extremely high humidities. Pigment
and/or filler can retard or accelerate gelation. It is rec-
ommended that the fabricator check the gelling charac-
teristics of a small quantity of resin under actual operat-
ing conditions prior to use.
