COR50-ZZ-11506
Inhibitor Solution
Technical Data Sheet
COR50-ZZ-11506 is an inhibitor solution of 10% Tertiary Butyl Catechol (TBC) in styrene.
This inhibitor is used to lengthen the gel time and increase the storage stability of unsaturated
polyester resins. This material has no shelf life restrictions.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Adjustment for 10 minutes of gel time in a general polyester resin 0.09%
Note:
Inhibitor may be very active when trying to adjust very long gel times (over 35 minutes).
Interplastic Corporation s Research and Development Laboratory recommends a conservative
addition to a small amount or resin followed by a gel time test to be certain this inhibitor is
appropriate before use in production.
This method is not a guarantee of precise gel time results.

FEATURES
GEL TIME EXTENSION
Slightly slow the catalyzed pot life
by adding COOLSHOT at at 3:1
blend.
COMPATIBLE CHEMISTRY
Designed to work along with the
DuraKote gelcoats and Duratec
polyester primers.
STAY C HILL
Longer gel time makes it easier to
use the gelcoats or primers in
higher temperatures or where
large
amounts will be mixed at one time.
TACK FREE FINISH
COOLSHOT enables gelcoat to
form a smooth, hard surface film.
COLOR NOTE:
Adding 39COOLSHOT to an opaque
coating will reduce the opacity of the
coating. This may cause an apparent
color change.
Before any repair test the mixture to
determine if there is enough opacity to
achieve a satisfactory repair.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
5.Spray pressures should be 35-50 PSI. If pressure pot is used, provided 10-15 psi
pot
pressure.
6.Spray the entire surface
to be repaired with a fine mist coat, and wai 2 minutes
for t

7.Fol
low with wet coats, overlapping the surroundi
ng area to ensure complete
coverage. When re-spraying large areas, keep a wet edge with a sta
ndard
gelcoat spray technique.
8.When the material has cured (~1 hour), lightly sand with
320-800 grit wet or dry
sandpaper. Allow coating to breathe
for at least another hour after sanding.
9.After open breathi
ng period, buff surface to desired finish. AquaBuff 1000F

1.39COOLSHOT is ready to use as received.
2.Thoroughly sand the area to
be repaired to a 120 or 180 grit finish. Ensure
surface is cleaned well to remove a
ny contaminating substances. Select a high
quality gelcoat of the appropriate color. We recommend a small gel time
mixture be done to determine specific gel time for existing shop conditions.
3.Add COOLSHOT R

gelcoat
prior to use. Thoroughly mix before using.
4.Catalyze the combined mixture as recommended, at 2% by weight with MEKP
(Norox 925 is a good choice.) Mix thoroughly.
*39COOLShot will reduce the gel coat or Duratec. If additional thinning is needed, thi n 5% by weight with
Duratec 39UCE, MEK,
or virgin acetone.
