POST CURE SCHEDULE
8 hours @ 77 F (25 C)
+3 hours @ 350 F (177 C)
OPTIONAL ACCELERATED CURE
Product Technical Bulletin Cont.
ESG-215 can be cured to a sandable condition by directing a localized heat source, such as a heat gun, heat lamp or infrared heater at the
repaired area until material has hardened. A complete cure of ESG-215-T can then be achieved during the high temperature use of the
mold.
HEATING AND COOLING RATES DURING POST CURE
Always allow tools made with ADTECH High Temperature systems to gel at room temperature before subjecting them to post cure (24
hours is usually sufficient). This will prevent excessive exotherm and shrink stress from occurring.
When oven curing laminated molds, always place the mold in a room temperature oven. Increase oven temperature at a rate of no more
than 50 F (30 C) per hour. When heat cure is completed, turn off oven and allow molds to remain in the oven. Never remove mold from
oven until mold temperature has been lowered to less than100 F (38 C).

APPLICATION GUIDE
Proper Preparation Of Model Or Pattern Surface
Note: A porous surface needs to be completely sealed before a mold release is applied. Whichever sealer you choose to use you
should refer to sealer instructions regarding number of coat applications and dry-to-cure-times before applying mold release.
Note: A non-porous surface should be thoroughly cleaned before applying mold release. Refer to application instructions of mold
release.
Once your model or pattern are properly released, catalyze ES-221 surface coat and brush on a 0.030″ to 0.040″ coating, taking care not to
entrap air or puddle resin in corners or at the bottom of steep details.
When surface coat reaches “tack-stage (resin will not stick to your finger when touched but soft and sticky enough to leave fingerprint)
immediately brush on a second layer of catalyzed ES-221 surface coat to a thickness of .030″ to .040”, followed by the pouring of plaster
onto wet surface coat, filling cavity.
NOTE: Prior to pouring of plaster, some fabricators prefer to sprinkle or broadcast sisal fibers on to 2
nd
wet surface coat to secure a
mechanical bonding feature.

NOTE: The post cure schedule pertaining to the high-temp epoxy laminate, casting system or plaster used with your tooling surface
coat would have precedence over that of the surface coat. However, to attain suitable temperature resistance and chemical resistance,
the surface coat is recommended to be post cured to a minimum temperature of 200 F (93 C).

POST CURE SCHEDULE
16 24 hours @ 77 F (25 C)
+2 hours @ 150 F (66 C)
+2 hours @ 200 F (93 C)
+2 hours @ 250 F (121 C)
+2 hours @ 300 F (149 C)
NOTE: The post cure schedule pertaining to the high-temp epoxy laminate, casting system or plaster used with your tooling surface
coat would have precedence over that of the surface coat. However, to attain suitable temperature resistance and chemical resistance,
the surface coat is recommended to be post cured to a minimum temperature of 200 F (93 C).

HEATING AND COOLING RATES DURING POST CURE
Always allow tools made with high-temp resin systems to gel at room temperature before subjecting them to post cure (16 to 24 hours
is usually sufficient). When oven curing, place mold in a room temperature oven, increasing temperature at a rate of 50F per hour.
When cooling, allow molds to remain in heated oven, decreasing the temperature at a rate of 50 F (30 C) per hour. Do not remove
mold from oven until temperature has been lowered to 100 F (38 C).

DESCRIPTION
ES-218 is white, thixotropic, room temperature cure, sandable epoxy surface coat designed for duplication work. The popular handling
properties of ES-218 produce accurate, detailed, chip resistant surface coat duplications in epoxy laminate fabrications.
The versatility of this resin system, when used with ES-218-1 Hardener, also doubles as a chemical resistant epoxy coating used to fill
surface texture on composite parts. Typically one application applied using brush or roller is all that is required to fill in the texture or weave
in cloth fabric. NOTE: Do not topcoat directly over ES-218-1 composite coating applications. Sand ES-218-1 and use surface primer
products as recommended by topcoat manufacturer. Typical applications include: masters, models, patterns, duplicating, engineering
tooling, checking and drill fixtures and as a composite coating.
