DESCRIPTION
ES-218 is white, thixotropic, room temperature cure, sandable epoxy surface coat designed for duplication work. The popular handling
properties of ES-218 produce accurate, detailed, chip resistant surface coat duplications in epoxy laminate fabrications.
The versatility of this resin system, when used with ES-218-1 Hardener, also doubles as a chemical resistant epoxy coating used to fill
surface texture on composite parts. Typically one application applied using brush or roller is all that is required to fill in the texture or weave
in cloth fabric. NOTE: Do not topcoat directly over ES-218-1 composite coating applications. Sand ES-218-1 and use surface primer
products as recommended by topcoat manufacturer. Typical applications include: masters, models, patterns, duplicating, engineering
tooling, checking and drill fixtures and as a composite coating.

DESCRIPTION
EL-337 is an improved, health-safe, two component, filled, non-staining, high temp epoxy laminating system specifically
developed for room temp hardening (B Stage) with high temp properties for high temp tooling applications. EL-337 has
excellent handling properties and fabric wet-out to produce a void free tool with high dimensional stability. EL-337 can be
used in the construction of large or small tools, as well as production parts. EL-337 can also be used with ADTECH High
Temp Surface Coats ES-219 and ES-229. Tools made with EL-337 can be used at continuous temperature of 320 F
(160 C), and intermittent temperatures up to 375 F (191 C). While EL-337 will gel at room temp, it must be post-cured to
achieve ultimate strength. The system contains no MDA or VCHD. Typical applications include: vacuum form molds,
prototype injection molds, high temperature bonding fixtures, spray metal molds, compression molds, high
temperature laminated molds and parts to be used in high temp applications.

PRELIMINARY CURE SCHEDULE
On model: Cure for 24 hours @ 77 F (25 C)
+ 2 hours @ 150 F (66 C)
You may attach support structure and demold tool after this schedule is completed.
POST CURE SCHEDULE
After completing the Preliminary Cure Schedule, complete the following:
2 hours @ 200 F (93 C)
2 hours @ 250 F (121 C)
3 hours @ 300 F (149 C)
HEATING AND COOLING RATES DURING POST CURE
Always allow tools made with ADTECH high temp systems to gel at room temperature before subjecting them to post cure
(24 hours is usually sufficient). This will prevent excessive exotherm and shrinkage from occurring.
When oven curing laminated molds, always place the mold in a room temperature oven. Increase oven temperature at a rate
of no more than 50 F (30 C) per hour. When heat cure is completed, turn off oven and allow molds to remain in the oven.
Never remove mold from oven until mold temperature has been lowered to less than100 F (38 C).

PROCESSING
Preliminary self-support cure schedule: Cure
for 24 hours at 77 F (25 C) + 4 hours at 125 F
(51.6 C) – 140 F (60 C) range. You may attach
support structure and demold tool after this
schedule is completed before additional cure

Alternative post-cure options can be used, if
needed, in processing. Contact Sika Corporation s

Heating and cooling rates during post-cure:
Always allow tools made with Sika high
temperature systems to gel at room
temperature before subjecting them to post
cure (24 hours is usually sufficient). This will
prevent excessive exotherm and shrink stress
from occurring. When oven curing laminated
molds, always place mold in a room
temperature oven and increase temperature
at a rate of no more than 50 F (30 C) per hour.
When heat cure is completed, turn off oven
and allow molds to remain in the oven. Never
remove mold from oven until mold
temperature has been lowered to less than

PRODUCT DATA SHEET
SikaBiresin CR101 (Formerly EL-335)
Toughened Epoxy Laminating System with High Impact Resistance
TYPICAL PHYSICAL PROPERTIES (FOR FURTHER VALUES SEE SAFETY DATA SHEET)
DESCRIPTION
SikaBiresin CR101 is a high-performance,
toughened laminating system developed for
intermediate temperature laminating
applications up to approximately 225 F
(107 C). SikaBiresin CR101 composites exhibit
increased impact resistance in the fabrication
of parts which will be used in a intermediate
heat temperature environment where
stability and performance are required.
SikaBiresin CR101 is availble with a choice of
two hardener options with different pot lifes
for process flexibility.
PRODUCT BENEFITS
– For applications up to approximately 225 F
(107 C)
– High impact resistance and toughness
– Two hardener choices (fast and slow)
– Excellent cloth wet -out
– Good elongation
– Increased hardness at elevated
temperatures
– Excellent dimensional stability
– Good mechanical shock properties
AREAS OF APPLICATION
SikaBiresin CR101 is used for
prototypes, patterns, master models,
tough composites parts, trim, holding
and checking fixtures, intermediate
temperature use splash molds, and
potting bushings. SikaBiresin CR101 c an be
used for laminating with graphite, EL-Glass,
S-Glass and Kevlar fabrics.
Tests with actual materials and conditions
have to be performed to ensure satisfactory
performance.
