GHS Classification:
Gases Under Pressure Liquefied gas
Simple Asphyxiant
Label Elements: Warning
Hazard Phrases
Contains gas under pressure; may explode if heated.
May displace oxygen and cause rapid suffocation.
Precautionary Phrases
Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames and hot surfaces.
Protect from sunlight. Store in a well-ventilated place.
Supplemental Information: Avoid breathing aerosol spray. Use in a
well-ventilated area. Avoid spraying directly on skin may cause
frostbite. Wear safety glasses.
3. Composition/Information on Ingredients
Chemical Name CAS # %
Halogenated hydrocarbon 811-97-2 80-100
4. First-Aid Measures
Eye Contact: Rinse thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes.
Remove contact lenses if safe and easy to do so, and continue rinsing.
Get medical attention if irritation persists.
Skin Contact: Wash contact area thoroughly with soap and water. Treat
frostbite if needed. Get medical attention if irritation persists.
Inhalation: Remove person to fresh air. Get medical attention if
symptoms persist.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention if symptoms
develop.
Most Important Symptoms/Effects: Skin contact may cause skin
drying and/or freezing. Breathing large amounts is harmful and may
cause temporary central nervous system depression with anesthetic
effects such as dizziness, headache, and loss of coordination and/or
consciousness. Exposures to high concentrations can cause irregular
heartbeat, cardiac arrest and death. Exposure to very high concentrations
can cause asphyxiation.
Indication of Immediate Medical Attention/Special Treatment:
Because of possible disturbances of cardiac rhythm, catechlolamine
drugs, such as epinephrine, should only be used in emergency life
support situations.
5. Fire-Fighting Measures
Extinguishing Media: Use water, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.
Use water spray to cool containers.
Specific Hazards: Keep away from heat, sparks and flames. Vapors are
heavier than air and may travel long distances to ignition source.
Containers may rupture or explode under fire conditions.
Combustion Products: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrofluoric
acid, carbonyl fluoride, formaldehyde and other unidentified compounds.
Special Protective Equipment & Precautions for Fire-Fighters: Wear
positive pressure, self-contained breathing apparatus and full-body
protective clothing.
6. Accidental Release Measures
Personal Precautions, Protective Equipment and Emergency
Procedures: Remove ignition sources. Avoid eye and skin contact and
avoid breathing aerosol.
Methods and Materials for Containment and Cleanup: Stop
discharge if it can be done safely.
7. Handling and Storage
Safe Handling: Keep away from heat, sparks, and open flames. Avoid
breathing aerosol. Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with the
eyes, skin and clothing. Wear safety glasses. Wash thoroughly after
handling. Do not eat, drink or smoke in the work area.
Safe Storage: Store in a cool, dry area in a well-ventilated area away
from ignition sources.
8. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection
Occupational Exposure Limits: Manufacturer recommends exposure
limit of 1000 ppm (TWA).
Ventilation: Use with adequate general or local exhaust ventilation to
maintain exposure levels below the occupational exposure limits.
Respiratory Protection: If needed, wear a dust mask or a NIOSH-
approved respirator.
Skin Protection: Wear gloves to protect from freezing.
Eye Protection: Wear safety glasses or goggles.
Other Protective Measures: An eye wash facility and washing facility
should be available in the work area. Follow applicable regulations and
good Industrial Hygiene practice.
