PIGMENT, RELEASE & MISCELLANEOUS PRODUCT
Dedicated to QUALITY, SERVICE, SAFETY, and INNOVATION
RELEASE #78
Release #78 is a highly effective silicone based release agent designed to release polyurethane elastomers from epoxy, polyester,
rubber, aluminum, and steel molds. Release #78 is a non-aerosol, bulk version of BJB s E-236 urethane release.
Easy to apply
Effective in a temperature range from 70-500 F (21-260 C)
Fast drying
Excellent surface finish to molded parts
APPLICATION:
Thoroughly clean mold to remove all traces of previous coatings and oils. Apply Release #78 using spray equipment. Hold the spray
gun 6 – 8 inches from the mold surface to ensure a light, even coating. When the molds are new or have been blasted with an abrasive,
season the mold by applying a heavy coating of release. Heat the mold to process temperature, then wipe the excess with a rag and
reapply a light coating of Release #78 before a regular molding. Release #78 is fast drying and requires no baking during the normal
molding process. Reapply a light coat before each molding.
NOTE:
Due to the silicone content of this release and its transfer to fabrication materials, finished parts must be abraded and cleaned prior to
any post mold finishing such as bonding or painting. Consult BJB s, technical service department for help with non or low transfer
release agent recommendations.
STORAGE:
Store at ambient temperatures, 65-80 F (18-27 C). Unopened containers will have a shelf life of 12 months from date of shipment when
properly stored at recommended temperatures. Purge opened containers with dry nitrogen before re-sealing.
PACKAGING
Release #78 is available in quart, gallon, and 5-gallon size containers.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS :
Use in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin by using protective gloves and protective clothing. Repeated or prolonged
contact on the skin may cause an allergic reaction. Eye protection is extremely important. Always use approved safety glasses or
goggles when handling this product.
