AF-4
ANTI-FOAM AND SURFACE FLOW AGENT
FEATURES:
Expedites the rapid de-airing of most urethanes
Works exceptionally well in the water clear aliphatic urethanes
Anti-foam AF-4 is a “surface tension reducing” agent recommended as an additive for urethane elastomer systems. Its purpose is to assist
in the vacuum degassing procedure (deaeration), by reducing the surface tension of entrained air bubbles in the resin mixture. Also, it
assists in better resin flow and wet out in molds.
Basically, the term anti-foam refers to the elimination or more rapid reduction of foaming action during the vacuum de-gassing process.
Antifoam AF-4 is completely silicone free and does not affect the color, appearance or bond ability of cured urethane parts.
USAGE:
Generally, anti-foams will work with all types of two component polyurethane elastomers and with some low viscosity epoxy systems.
BJB has designed a product called AF-5 specifically for epoxy systems. Elastomers with high viscosity, 5,000 – 8,000 cps, often require
more anti-foam than systems of lower viscosity. Based on a 4,500 cps system, about
1
/8 oz. (4 – 7 grams) of AF-4 should be added to a 10
lb. mass. For smaller volume masses, an eyedropper dispensing 3 to 5 drops is usually sufficient for a 1 lb. mass. Best results are
obtained by adding anti-foam during the mixing process just before vacuum degassing.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
Use in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin using protective gloves and protective clothing. Repeated or prolonged contact on
the skin may cause an allergic reaction. Eye protection is extremely important. Always use approved safety glasses or goggles when
handling this product.
IF CONTACT OCCURS:
Skin: Immediately wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and launder before reuse. It is not recommended to
remove resin from skin with solvents. Solvents only increase contact and dry skin. Seek qualified medical attention if allergic
reactions occur.
Eyes: Immediately flush with water for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician.
Ingestion: If swallowed, call a physician immediately. Remove stomach contents by gastric suction or induce vomiting only as directed
by medical personnel. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
