Description
Zyvax
Sealer 1050 is a solvent-based semi-permanent
sealer for the advanced composites industry which affords
easy application in one step using a wipe-on, let-dry
method. Zyvax
Sealer 1050 is designed to treat both the
chemical and physical bonding sites found on every raw
mold surface. In addition, Zyvax
Sealer 1050 provides the
base needed to extend the life of the release coating and
will allow optimal performance
.
Mold Preparation
1. Tool surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned to remove
all resin build-up, wax, oils, sealers, and other release
agents.
2. Perform a final cleaning of the tool using an
appropriate Zyvax
mold cleaner.
3. If the mold is composite or polymeric, treat with a
Zyvax
mold primer.
Application Instructions
1. Dampen an approved cloth with Zyvax
Sealer 1050
sealer and apply a light and even coat to the entire tool
surface ensuring slight overlaps between wipes to
ensure full coverage.
2. As a guide to achieving a “light coat”, the wet film should
shine, but there should be no runs when applied to a
vertical surface.
3. Continue working across the tool until the entire surface
has been coated.
4. Allow the sealer to cure for a minimum of 15 minutes
prior to applying additional coats.
5. Using the same method, apply additional coats as
necessary for a total of 2 – 4 coats.
6. Allow the sealer to cure for a minimum of 30 minutes
after the final coat has been applied before applying the
appropriate release agent.
Important
The recommended number of coats and cure times are a
general guideline found to be more than sufficient in a
broad spectrum of molding conditions. When molding
products with extreme geometries or experiencing low-
humidity conditions in the shop, the customer may find the
need to extend the cure time between coats and increase
the number of coats applied to the mold. The efficiency of
a release film is best determined through a combination of
tape tests and experimentation.
Storage
Do not store at temperatures above 49 C/120 F. Keep
container tightly sealed to prevent evaporation and/or
contamination. If stored in cold temperatures allow
warming to room temperature before using.
Packaging
Zyvax
Sealer 1050 is available in a variety of package
sizes. Please contact Chem-Trend customer service for
details.
Safety Data
Safety Data Sheets are available for all products and
should be consulted prior to use of the product.

Application Guide
PARTALL@ Hi-Temp WAx
PARTALL@ Hi-Temp Wax is a premium multi-release mold release agent formulated from a blend of hydrocarbon and mlcrocrystal-
line waxes and fortified with PTFE polymer. lt is particularly recommended for use with epoxiesorphenolicsormpartofmdd
ingprocessesthatcureand/orcatalyzeathighertemperatures (150-350’F(65- L77 “C)) when castingcomposites partsor
molds from plugs. PARTALL@ Hi-Temp Wax may be used with most thermoset resins at ambient or elevated temperature cure,
and is especially useful in applications where standard silicone waxes hinder post-finishing operations. PARTALL@ Hi-Iemp Wax
has a creamy texture that makes for ease of application.
Use
pARTALL@
Fitm #1-O or PARTALL@ Coverall Film in conjunction with PARTALL@ Hi-Temp Wax to initialize new or reconditioned
polyester or vinylester molds, or on molds that are particularly intricate or too expensive to risk demolding problems.
PREPARING THE MOLD SURFACE
Molding surface must be thoroughly dry and free of other parting agents and contaminants such as silicone, dust, and compres-
sor oil prior to application of PARTALL@ Hi-Temp Wax. Porous molds (i.e., plaster or wood) must be sealed; composites grade
sealers, such as FORMULA FIVE
o Mold Sealer and FORMULA FIVE
o
Mold Sealer-S, are recommended but fairing compounds,
automobile type primer-sealers, and lacquers may be sufficient. Best practice is to allow residual solvents to out-gas from seal-
ers and waxes for at least one hour after application.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Use in a well-ventilated area with appropriate personal protection. Use a clean dry cloth or applicator pad to apply a thin even
coat of PARTALL@ Hi-Temp Wax to mold surface; 0.5-1.0 gm is sufficient to cover approximately 1yd2 (1 mz;. lf buffing by hand,
apply to a small section and begin buffing within one minute of application; it may be advantageous to have a second operator
follow to polish. A power buffer equipped with a terry cloth or lamb’s wool pad will reduce labor time on larger molds. Keep
power buffer moving constantly so as not to allow build-up of friction that could burn through the wax coating. Surface should
be buffed to a glossy finish.
Complete coverage is more imporlantthan wax film thickness. ln order to insure complete coverage, repeat application and
polishing process at least three times when initializing new or reconditioned molds or plugs. Alternate rubbing motions during
application of each coat (i.e., up-down, left-right, circular) and polish each coat before applying the next. Apply one coat of
PARTALL@ Hi-Temp Wax following each cycle thereafter until mold is broken in. Re-wax mold as necessary throughout produc-
tion. Allow at least one hour after application of final coat for residual solvents to out-gas before applying polyvinyl alcohol
(PVA) coating or casting parts.
The best procedure for separating parts from a mold depends on the size and shape of the part. ln most cases a part can be
lifted from the mold after loosening around the edges. On large curved parts it may be necessary to first tap over the surface
witharubbermallet. lnjectingcompressedairbetweenthepartandmoldattheedgeissometimesusefulinfreeingveryrigidparts
that cannot be flexed.
PARTALL@ Hi-Temp Wax is packaged in 72 ounce (34O
Sram) cans.

TR-315
COARSE COMPOUND
HEAVY CUTTING PASTE
DESCRIPTION:
TR-315 is a heavy duty paste compound specifically to provide rapid removal of coarse sanding marks, scratches,
overspray, surface stains, orange peel and heavy oxidation on polyester gel-coat.
PRODUCT FEATURES:
Fast cutting action for quick removal of deep surface scratches and other imperfections
Developed for use on gel -coat, but also effective on acrylic lacquers, baked enamels & metals
Minimizes sanding steps for increased efficiency
Easy brush application when working on large vertical surfaces
Contains no silicones or waxes
Economically priced
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:
Specific Gravity: 1.23 (10.25lbs./Gal)
Viscosity: soft paste water/petroleum emulsion blend
Color: Light orange/reddish
USES:
Initial compound to remove coarse sanding scratches (400g) and blemishes on polyester and vinyl-ester gel -coated
surfaces including finished parts, tooling and master patterns.
APPLICATION:
Apply compound to surface and spread evenly. Using a high speed electric variable speed buffer equipped with all
wool twisted buffing pad set buffer speed to 1,200-1, 500 RPM for best results. Work in a 2 x 2 overlapping surface
area using medium pressure to remove sanding marks and other imperfections. As polish begins to dry gradually
reduce buffing pressure to achieve a smooth uniform semi -gloss appearance. Wipe surface clean if any residual
buffing compound remains before beginning subsequent compounding or polishing while also using a new buffing
pad. Use a buffing spur to clean pad frequently during use to remove excess compound build up.
NOTE:
Recommend following with TR-311 Super Duty Compound to achieve high er gloss smooth finish and then follow
with TR-308 Fine Finish II for optimum high gloss swirl free class A finish.
PACKAGING:
TR-315 is available in Gallon 4×1 case, 5gal pail or 55gal drum. Recommended to store in a cool dry place to
maintain one year shelf life stability.
FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY
