Flame Retardant Epoxy Fiberglass Prepreg, 250 F Cure
Typical ApplicationsProduct Description
AX-3201FR is a 250 F (121 C) curing
epoxy fiberglass prepregdesigned to
produce composite components using
either vacuum bag oven or autoclave
cure cycles. The prepreg system is ideal
for multi-ply laminates requiring flame
retardanceand a cosmetic finish. Parts
built with AX-3201FR exhibit good high
thermal and UV stability as well as
resistance to water and common
industrial fluids. Solvent-free hot melt
processing provides AX-3201FR with
volatile-free curing and handling. The
recommended service temperature
envelope for AX-3201FR is -67 (-55 C) to
250 F (121 C).
AX-3201FR is available on virtually all
woven fiberglass fabric styles (e.g.108,
120, 7781, etc.) and at virtually any
requested resin content.
Standard resin content:
39% by weight (7781 style)
Standard tack: High
Coating: 1 or 2 side tack
Flame retardant components
High clarity, void-free, smooth surface
High toughness / strength composite
laminates vacuum bag
Automotive parts and components with a
show-room surface
Aerospace parts & components with no fill
and fair required
High surface quality sporting goods

Optimum properties are achieved with the
following cycles:
Apply 10-50 psi (0.69-3.45 bar) and cure
60 minutes 250 F (121 C) OR
40 minutes at 270 F (132 C) OR
100 minutes at 235 F (113 C)
Temperature heat up and cool down
under pressure is recommended, but
not mandatory.
This prepregis vacuum-bag, platen
press, and autoclave compatible.
Peak operating temperatures
generally depend on cure temperature.
For a 250 F (121 C) cure the service
temperature envelope is -67 F (-55 C) to
250 F (121 C).
