Component name
Wt. %
Polypropylene (homopolymer) 99.3
Process Lubricant 0.7
3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION
This product is considered to be a low risk product and not significantly hazardous. The
components of the product construction are classified as follows:
3.1 Polypropylene:
The molten product adheres to the skin and causes thermal burns.
3.2 Lubricant (unlikely to constitute any hazard in such low application quantities).
Amixture of selected fattyacid polyglycol ethers. Harmful if swallowed or in contact
with eyes. Highly unlikely to present any hazard given the very low applied level.
4. FIRST AID
Inhalation:
Remove from scene of exposure to fresh air. Incase of excessive inhalation of fumes, dust or
fibres call for medical help.

Skin contact:
Wash with lukewarm soapy water. If skin irritation occurs consult a doctor.
Eye contact:
Flush in running water (for at least 10 minutes) and consult a doctor if necessary.
Ingestion:
Ingestion of this material is unlikely. If it does occur, watch the person for several days to
make sure that intestinal blockage does not occur.
5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
In the case of fire Polypropylene material is combustible.
Extinguishing media:
Water
Foam
CO2
Powder
Specific hazards:
Combustible
(polypropylene)
In a fire, the polymer melts, producingdrops that maypropagate fire.
Possible build-up of electrical charges, which could cause a fire byelectrical
discharges.
Primarycombustion products are carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, organic acids,
aldehydes, alcohols and water. Other undetermined compounds could be released in
small quantities.
It is recommended that appropriate personal protective equipment be worn in the event of a
fire.
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
For protective measures see section 8.
Cleanup methods:
Collect the product with suitable means avoiding dust formation. Place the material into a
closed and labelled container. For disposal methods, refer to section 13.
Environmental protection:
Prevent discharges into the environment (sewers, rivers, soils, etc.).
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling:
No special precautions required when handling but advisable to wear gloves and or a suitable
barrier cream
Avoid heating the product above the Polypropylene melt temperature (see section 9).
Storage:
Keep away from ignition and heat sources.
Store away from excessive humidity to prevent damage to the product.

Other precautions:
Follow the protective measures given in section 8.
Packaging:
Cardboard tube core.
Polythene film outer.
Paper labelling
8. EXPOSURE CONTROL/PERSONAL PROTECTION
8.1 Technical measures:
Use every appropriate means to try to reduce the concentration of fibres likely to cause
irritation.
8.2 Exposure control:
No special precautions required.
8.3 Personal protection:
Respiratory protection:
No special precautions required- normal air circulation. In instance of very high levels of use it
is recommended that a good level of air flow/ circulation is present.
Skin protection:
Normal good practice is recommended- work overalls and gloves. Although no hazard is
anticipated, some individuals can be sensitised to extremely low concentrations of finishes.
Eye protection:
Safety glasses.
Work and hygiene practice:
Normal work and hygiene practices should be satisfactory.
9. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES:
Physical state: Solid.
Form: Polypropylene knitted core
Colour: Natural/ white
Odor/Odour: Odorless/Odourless.
Change of state: Polypropylene: Melting point from 155-165 C.
Solubility: Polypropylene is insoluble in water.
The very small proportion of lubricant is water soluble
Decomposition: Decomposition of polypropylene will occur at 250 C (for sustained
period of exposure),
Flammability: Class of combustion:BZ2 (short ignition and quick extinction) For PP
only.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY
Stability: Stable under normal conditions of use.
Conditions to avoid:Heating the product to above the decomposition temperature of
Polypropylene core material (250 C).
Hazardous decomposition products:
In combustion conditions various products may be released including
carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, organic acids, aldehydes, alcohols
and water. Other undetermined compounds could be released in
small quantities.
11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION:
Localised effects:
None Known
Sensitisation:
Some personnel may display allergic reaction to lubricant finish. In the case where an allergy
is confirmed, remove the person from the scene of the exposure.
Long term exposure: Carcinogenic risks
None known
12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
The product is not biode
gradable.
Ingestion of solids maycause harm to wildlife due to intestinal mechanical blockage
or starvation from false feeding of satiation.
13. WASTE DISPOSAL
Depending on local regulations, Polymat wastes can be considered as inert waste or as
common industrial waste. As such they can be buried in landfills for these categories.
This product can be destroyed by incineration.
Packaging can be eliminated in units specific to their material type (i.e. plastic, wood, paper,
etc.) and where appropriate, recycled.
14. TRANSPORT
No specific hazards identified.
15. REGULATORY INFORMATION
