NON-WARRANTY “Except for a warranty that materials substantially comply with the data presented in Manufacturer’s latest bulletin describing the product (the basis for this substantial
compliance is to be determined by the standard quality control tests generally performed by Manufacturer), all materials are sold “AS IS” and without any warranty express or implied as
to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, patent, trademark or copyright infringement, or as to any other matter. In no event shall Manufacturer’s liability for damages exceed
Manufacturer’s sale price of the particular quantity with respect to which damages are claimed.”
CURE SCHEDULE/HEAT CURING:
Most of the physical properties can be achieved in 5-7 days at 77 F (25 C). You may use your own post-cure schedule but the physical
properties may vary from BJB s cure schedule of 1-3 hours at 77 F (25 C) followed by 16 hours at 160 F (71 C). Do not exceed
curing temperature of 200 F (93 C). The cure may be inhibited if cast against a Tin Catalyzed Silicone RTV.

ACCESSORIES:
BJB offers silicone RTV mold making materials along with a wide range of accessory items. These include de-airing agents, pigments,
mold releases, and Jiffy

Mixers. Visit BJB s website at www.bjbenterprises.com or consult a BJB representative for more
information.

COLOR VARIATIONS:
The color of the base material may vary slightly from batch to batch due to raw ingredients. Color variations will not affect the
cured physical properties. Exposing the material to various conditions such as heat and UV light will alter the color of the cured
system. Color stability is not guaranteed. This product can be pigmented, but you may see more color shift when using lighter
pigments.

UV RESISTANCE:
This product is not classified as UV resistant. BJB offers an additive called UV-100, a UV inhibitor and anti-oxidant blend that
will help slow down the effects of UV degradation and color change. The level of effectiveness varies from product to product.

STORAGE:
Store at ambient temperatures, 65-80 F (18-27 C). Unopened containers will have a shelf life of 6 months from date of shipment when
properly stored at recommended temperatures. Purge opened containers with dry nitrogen before re-sealing.

Product Description
ELFOAM P400 is a 4.0 lb/ft
3
(64 kg/m
3
), rigid, unfaced,
closed cell polyisocyanurate foam supplied as blocks,
sheets and fabricated shapes for a variety of insulation, core
material and carving applications. Polyisocyanurate foam
(polyiso) is similar to polyurethane foam but offers greater
dimensional stability over a wider service temperature range.
ELFOAM P400 is manufactured in bunstock form 24 (61cm)
thick; 48 (122cm) wide; and 96 (244cm) long. Cut sheets
are offered in thicknesses from 1/8 to 8 (.32cm to 20cm) in
1/32 (.08cm) increments. Custom sizes and fabricated parts
up to 24 (66cm) thick, 48 (122cm) wide and 192 (488cm)
in length are available for customers wanting to eliminate
in-house cutting, handling, and scrap disposal. Contact
the Indianapolis Sales Office for additional information.
Design Considerations
ELFOAM P400 is designed for use in environments
where temperatures range from -297 to +300 F (-183 to
+149 C). However, in non-laminated applications where
temperatures exceed 140 F (60 C) and/or have relative
humidity above 70% as well as in processes where frequent
and severe thermal cycling occurs, allowances for foam
dimensional changes may need to be incorporated into
engineering design. Regardless of operating conditions, a
qualified design engineer should review all foam applications.
ELFOAM, like all cellular plastics, will degrade with
prolonged exposure to sunlight. To prevent such degradation,
foam materials should be covered. Other barriers
to protect exposed foam surfaces from the elements and to meet
applicable fire and safety regulations may also be required.
Environmental Data
ELFOAM P300 is specifically formulated to provide
excellent physical properties without the use of
chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) or hydrochlorofluorocarbon
(HCFC) blowing agents. In compliance with the
Montreal Protocol and the Clean Air Act, ELFOAM P400 is
manufactured with hydrocarbon blowing agents which
have no ozone depletion or global warming potential.
Applications
Typical products incorporating ELFOAM P400 include:
Laminated wall and roof panels
Truck/Trailer bodies, shipping containers and railcars
FRP panels, tanks and shelters
Pultrusion and infusion processes
Pipe, tank and vessel insulation
Plugs, patterns and carved products
Note that application testing is often required to determine
suitability of the foam for a specific application. Potential
users should perform pertinent testing to determine the
suitability of the product for the intended application.
Final determination of fitness of the product for any
particular use is the responsibility of the buyer.
Compliances and Approvals
ELFOAM P400 meets industry standards, specifications,
regulations and technical guidelines put forth by numerous
commercial, federal and military entities including ASTM
International, Underwriters Laboratories, FM Global
and the US Department of Transportation. Contact the
Indianapolis Sales Office for additional information.
