TRYMER

4000
POLYISOCYANURATE FOAM INSULATION
DESCRIPTION
Trymer 4000 insulation is a polyurethane modified
polyisocyanurate cellular material. The rigid insulation is
supplied in the of bunstock for fabrication into sheets, pipe
shells, tank and vessel coverings, and other shapes for a
variety of thermal insulation applications. Trymer 4000 insulation
features improved dimensional stability over a wider range of
temperatures than standard polyurethane insulation. Trymer
insulation is not a known nutrient source for mold and mildew.
APPLICATIONS
Trymer 4000 insulation is used extensively in industrial and
commercial applications with moderate density/strength
requirements, within the service temperature range* of -297 F
to +300 F (-183 C to +149 C). Typical applications for Trymer 4000
insulation include:
Fabricated pipe insulation, including elbows and fittings
Core material for factory built panelized constructions
Pipe hangers, saddles and supports
Core material for architectural and structural panels
Tank and vessel insulation
* Trymer PIR can be used at temperatures below -297 F but certain system
design precautions may be necessary. Please consult JM for more information
SIZE
Height: 16 (41 cm)
Width: 48 (122 cm)
Length: 36 (91cm)
96 (244cm)
Custom lengths are also available. Contact your local JM
representative for details.
AVAILABILITY
Trymer 4000 insulation is distributed through JM s extensive
Authorized Fabricator Network.
INSTALLATION
Trymer 4000 insulation is easy to fabricate into various shapes
to meet specific design needs. However, because of the critical
technical design aspects of many of its applications, JM
recommends that qualified designers or consultants design the
total system.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES
Trymer 4000 insulation exhibits the properties and
characteristics indicated in Table 1 when tested as represented.
Consultation with local building code officials, and design
engineers/specifiers is recommended before application. Like
all cellular plastics, this product will degrade upon prolonged
exposure to sunlight. A covering to block ultraviolet radiation
must be used to prevent this degradation.
ENVIRONMENTAL DATA
Trymer 4000 insulation is specifically formulated to provide
excellent thermal insulation properties without the use of
chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) or hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC)
blowing agents. In compliance with the Montreal Protocol and
the Clean Air Act, Trymer 4000 insulation is manufactured with
hydrocarbon blowing agents, which have no ozone depletion
potential..
SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
Trymer 4000 insulation requires care in handling. All persons
working with this material must know and follow the proper
handling procedures. The current Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and
General Handling Recommendations for Trymer contain informa-
tion on the safe handling, storage and use of this material, and

required to maintain exposure levels below ACGIH, OSHA, WEEL or other applicable limits. For situations where the atmospheric levels may exceed the level for which an air-purifying respirator is effective, use a
positive-pressure, air-supplying respirator (air line or self-contained breathing apparatus). Spraying large amounts of foam indoors may require the use of a positive pressure, air-supplying respirator. Contents under pressure.
Building and/or construction practices unrelated to insulation could greatly affect moisture and the potential for mold formation. No material supplier including DuPont can give assurance that mold will not develop in any
specific system.

6800 SERIES PIGMENTS

The 6800 Series of liquid pigment dispersions are designed to be compatible with all BJB polyurethanes, foams, and
epoxy resin systems. (Colors are representational.)

APPLICATION
BJB liquid pigments are designed to rapidly disperse into the systems described above. The 6800 pigment series is typically used by adding
approximately 1/2% by weight of pigment to the material system. Many materials are naturally dark and hard to color. These materials
may require from 1% to 5% of the pigment dispersion to develop the desired color. Liquid pigments can often cause a negative effect on a
material s physical properties if too much pigment is added. Successful pigmentation is usually achieved when using the following guide:
IN FLEXIBLE POLYURETHANE FOAMS, add pigment to the B component. When working from large containers (5-gallons or drums) it is
advisable to only pigment the amount of material to be used, especially if more than 2% is added. Stored materials may have a shelf life
reduction due to pigmentation.
IN RIGID POLYURETHANE FOAM SYSTEMS, the pigment should be added to the B component. Due to the dark nature of most rigid foam
systems, pigmentation is generally limited to the darker colors.
IN AROMATIC SYSTEMS, the pigments are added to the B component. These systems are not color stable. Lighter pigmented colors can
darken slightly with age.
IN ALIPHATIC SYSTEMS, add pigment to the B component. These water-clear systems are easily pigmented and color stable.
IN EPOXY RESIN SYSTEMS, pigments are added to the A side (resin). If dark-colored epoxy hardeners are to be used, a pigment
dispersion of up to 5% by weight may be required.
IN SILICONE SYSTEMS, see the 8100 Series Silicone Pigments.
STORAGE
Store ambient temperatures, 65-80 F (18-27 C). Unopened containers will have a shelf life of 12 months from date of shipment when
properly stored at recommended temperatures. Purge opened containers with dry nitrogen before re-sealing.
